September 1, 1923, the Great Tokyo Earthquake caused great suffering. Wang Yiting, a Shanghai merchant, painter, and philanthropist, strived to appeal to relieve the people in disaster. Japanese thus called him "Bodhisattva Wang". From here we could see the private friendship between the Chinese and Japanese people contrast to the political tension.
