November 13, 1957, People's Daily publicized an editorial, which first mentioned the slogan of "Great Leap Forward". This socialist construction movement intended to achieve leap forward in industry and agriculture within a brief time. But merely in 3 years, the movement gradually came to an end due to disasters such as national famine. This movement also evoked the debates of policy lines in the Communist party, and eventually led to the cultural revolution in 1966. Regarding the details of the "Great Leap Forward", you may refer to our research finding: Chen Yung-fa, "Anti-Corruption and State-Making in Modern China: Thinking through Moral Discourse with Patricia Thornton".
