November 30, 1940, Japan formally recognized the Nanjing government led by Wang Jingwei. Wang has been conclusively sentenced as traitor by historians from both sides of the Strait. However, recently some scholars started to, through book reviews or papers, interpret this figure with innovative ideas, for example, you may refer to our research finding Wang Jung-tzu, "Book Review of Wang Kewen's Wang Jingwei, KMT, and the Nanjing government", and Lo Jiu-jung, "Two-man show by Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei during the Sino-Japanese War".
