January 5, 1903, the court appointed Pulan as the Formal Supervisor of the affairs of Universal Exposition of St. Louis. Universal Exposition is an international platform of presentation. It could not only present the power of a nation and promote the trade, but also enhancing mutual understanding of culture and shape the national image. Learning to become a member of the international society, China's first attempt to accomodate it to the culture of Universal Exposition has many meaningful details worth researching.
