February 19, 1934, Chiang Kai-shek promoted "The New Life Movement" in Nanchang. This is the commence of the term. New Life Movement was enthusiastically promoted by Chiang. This movement not only advocated the Four Virtues, but also emphasized order and cleanness, which was related to the military purposes at that time.
