Abstract:
In his early years, Deng joined the Tongmenghui and served as Justice Minister. At the time of the 1911 Revolution, he served as a member of the temporary National Assembly for a time, but as he opposed Yuan Shi-kai, he was imprisoned. In 1939, he was elected to the KMT Central Standing Committee; he was the highest member from the Ministry of Defense to serve on the Central Committee. In 1949, he was awarded a PhD in philosophy by Lincoln University in the United States, and in 1952 he became a central counselor and as a national policy adviser.
