1. Papers of Liu Chih 劉峙 The Liu Chih Papers consist primarily of diaries from 1937 to 1970 and drafts of correspondence from 1959 to 1968. There are also a few personal biographies and memoirs. The diaries offer detailed accounts of significant historical events, such as military and post-crisis developments in Shaanxi and Gansu after the Xi'an Incident, the worsening situation in Northern China following the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, and the pivotal Huaihai campaign during the Chinese Civil War. The Liu Chih Papers are invaluable primary sources for studying Republican China and the Chinese Civil War. (1) These papers range from 1929 to 1970 and contain 130 volumes in total. (2) Opening method: View images in the on-site reading room. 2. Papers of Ni Yue-si 黎玉璽 The Ni Yue-si Papers consist primarily of diaries from 1951 to 1977. These diaries cover significant events, such as the First Taiwan Strait Crisis and the Battle of August Sixth. They also include records from diplomatic missions to the Central African Republic and Turkey. The collection also includes official documents and correspondence from his time as ambassador to Turkey and presidential aide. Maps, originating from the Kuo Ting-yee Library 郭廷以圖書館地圖 The maps, originating from the Kuo Ting-yee Library, consists primarily of regional maps of Chinese provinces at various scales, as well as geographic maps of Asia, the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. Readers may find it helpful to read these materials alongside the Archives' other holdings. (1) These papers date from 1880 to 1974 and total 3,072 volumes.
