November 18, 1929, Minister of Diplomacy Wang Zhengting said that it was decided to have the consular jurisdiction abolished in China. Consular jurisdiction was one of the unequal agreement since the Nanking treaty. Since the nationalist government was established, the government started to seek for a solution for the issue, and stimulated series of negotiations. However, great powers had no intention to give up the rights. It was only until the later stage of WWII, the issue of consular jurisdiction was formally solved.
