    Abstract:
    n his early years, Guo Tingyi (Mr. Kuo Ting-Yee) was an instructor at Tsinghua University, Henan University, Central University, and the Central Political University. After coming to Taiwan, he taught at National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University, and, from 1955, he served as director of the Preparatory Office of the Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica and then the first director of the Institute. In 1969, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Hawaii, Columbia University and Harvard University, lecturing and researching,
