Fragments of Kuo Ting-yee is the diary of Kuo Ting-yee(Kuo Liang-yu), the founder of the Institute of Modern History. The diary is incomplete, for the beginning, the end, and parts of the middle have lost. The first section of the diary begins on 1st April 1950 and ends on 18th October in the same year; The Second section begins on 11th August 1957 and ends on 31st July 1967. The diary includes both the development of the academic activity led by Mr. Kuo, and his personal family life. The former tells many about the academic exchanges with the U.S., and the latter reveals many aspect of the scholar’s warm family life. Furthermore, the diary records the friendship between Mr. Kuo and other scholar in Taiwan, together with his relationship with politicians, such as Chiang Ching-kuo and Lee Huan.
