    Abstract:
    Chen Kai-wen (1898-1986) was born in Cenxi, Guangxi. He graduated from Guangdong Higher Normal School in 1923, and joined the KMT in 1925. He had served at several institutes including National News Daily, Peasant Department, Institute of Peasant Movement, and Overseas Chinese Affairs Council. Mr. Chen had served as counselor of the Executive Yuan of the Nationalist Government since 1935, elected as legislator in 1948, and served as Secretary General of the Legislative Yuan for a short period. He then resign and reside in Hong Kong. The Diaries includes twelve volumes of Mr. Chen’s diary, which the focus is on the period from early 1937 to May, 1950. The Diaries records his personal experience of the Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War, his diplomatic experience in Indonesia, and his memory of people in the 1930-40 period, which has a value as a historical material.
