Application form (DOC) Information for Applicants Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica 2024 Fellowships for Doctoral Candidates in the Humanities and Social Sciences (This information is complied in accord with the guideline of Academia Sinica Fellowships for Doctoral Candidates in the Humanities and Social Sciences) 1. Requirements a) The program is open to both R.O.C. and non-R.O.C. citizens. Due to the regulations, PRC citizens are not eligible for this program. b) Both R.O.C. and non-R.O.C. applicants must be full-time graduate students enrolled in a humanities and social science program either at a local university or a recognized program at a foreign university. c) Applicants must have completed the course work in an approved program of study and passed the comprehensive examination for the doctoral degree. In addition, the research plan of the applicant must be compatible with current research directions of IMH, Academia Sinica. d) Applicants can only submit ONE application to ONE graduate program. Submission of a single application to multiple graduate programs is not allowed. 2. Term of Fellowship a) The fellowship will last for a one-year period (July 1, 2024 to June 30,2025). b) The stipend awarded Fellows is 50,000 NT dollars per month. c) Ten days prior to the end of the term of appointment, Fellows must submit a report describing the research completed. d) Fellows are not eligible to receive any further subsidy during their candidacy. This includes compensation from employment outside IMH. 3. Applications a) Completed Institute of Modern History’s application form. (Please download the form from below, and do not use the Academia Sinica form) b) Official copies of graduate academic records. c) Research plan. (10 pages including references) d) Publications (3 works at most, 3copies of each) e) Curriculum vitae. f) Two letters of recommendation from the applicant’s academic institution. Deadline for applications February 20, 2024 5. Rights and Obligations a) Fellows must be at IMH engaging in research work for at least half of the fellowship funding period (at least 2 to 3 days a week). In addition, the applicant should provide periodic research progress reports to their IMH advisor. b) IMH will provide research offices (on a shared basis), library access, and use of the computer room. c) Other matters should be arranged according to the rules and regulations of the Institute. 6.
