September 25, 1940, Japanese army took Lang Son. Ten months later, France acknowledged Japan's military control of Vietnam. This military action was not only for cutting off Nationalist government's oversea connections, but also grasping the rich natural resources in Southeast Asia. It was a part of Japan's design of "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere".
