December 10, 1979, The Kaohsiung Incident took place; a meeting and March to commemorate human rights day organized by the Meili Island Magazine in Kaohsiung came into conflict with the police and the army. This incident has had a great influence on political democratization in post- War Taiwan. The institute interviewed 14 figures connected to the Kaohsiung (Meilidao) Incident and it is valuable historical material relating to the history of the Taiwanese Democracy Movement: Oral History 12th Issue (Kaohsiung Incident Special Issue).
