" The Cow's Complaints and the Herd Boy's Song" published in Chinese Repository, vol. 9, 1840

December 29, 1852, Chinese Repository was closed. Chinese Repository was one of the earliest journals that was published by the Missionaries in the Late Qing, and brought certain influences about the Western recognition of the Chinese in the early stage. For details you may refer to our Bulletin: Murray A. Rubinstein, “Propagating the Democratic Gospel: Western Missionaries and the Diffusion of Western Thoughts in China, 1830-1848”.
