January 20, 1934, Puyi announced that from March 1 on, “Manchu Empire" was to be renamed as "Great Empire of Manchuria". Equally controlled by Japan, in the early twentieth century, many Taiwanese went to Manchuria to seek for a career. Some of them stayed there after the WWII.
