 Wu Youru had painted to record German Prince Albert Wilhelm Heinrich of Prussia's visit in 1880 before being involved in the Dianshizhai Pictorial Newspaper

May 8, 1884, British merchant Major first issued the Dianshizhai Pictorial Newspaper, sent along with Shenbao, every ten days. Under the leading of famous painters such as Wu Youru, Dianshizhai Pictorial Newspaper contributed greatly to the enlightenment of late Qing Chinese people.
