 The reconcilement of two countries: Chinese people mistook the Treaty of Shimonoseki was a result of Japan's failure

April 17, 1895, the Treaty of Shimonoseki was signed. The Qing empire abandoned its suzerainty over Korea, and ceded Taiwan to Japan. It is a turning point of the East Asian history.
