    Abstract:
When the ROC government retreated to Taiwan in 1949, it instituted martial law due to considerations of political stability. The Martial Law Period (1949-1987) gave the intelligence apparatus overwhelming power with which they could imprison or sentence their opponents without due process; this period is known as the "White Terror." This book interviews people convicted in political incidents which occurred in the north of Taiwan in this period, as well as their relatives and other witnesses. The book totals 95 articles.
