Abstract:
Wang Shih-chieh was born in Hubei in 1891 and died in Taipei.in 1981. He was an important figure in modern Chinese history who held positions in academia, politics, diplomacy, and other areas, holding many important posts. In the period of the Second Sino-Japanese War, he supported Chiang Kai-Shek while simultaneously bearing the heavy responsibility of serving as the Head of the KMT Central Propaganda Department, as well as being the head of or senior aide in 6 others. In 1962, he took up the post of president of Academia Sinica. He placed great emphasis on the participation in politics of scholars and on the preservation historic material and he left a large number of documents that are now precious direct materials for researching modern history. His manuscript diary was published in 1990 and has been opened through our database in 2010 as soon as the institute finished the identification. The typeset edition of the Diary was published in Dec 2012.
