    Abstract:
    Jason C. S. Yuan (1942- ) received a government grant to study in the US Naval Electronic and Fire Control Center in 1967. In 1978, he was transferred MOFA and served as Deputy Director of the Congressional Liaison Division at Coordination Council for North American Affairs. From 1991 to 2003, he was appointed as the Director-General of the Department of North American Affairs in MOFA, the Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada, the ROC Ambassador to Panama, the Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles. In 2004, he served as the Representative of KMT-PFP Office in the USA. In 2008, he was appointed as ROC Ambassador to the US. Throughout his diplomatic career, he has worked in the USA for 30 years. In 2012, he served as the Secretary-General of the National Security Council of the Republic of China and then became the senior advisor to the president in 2014. Ambassador Yuan is a man of righteousness and integrity with multifaceted interests. He is a competent and effective communicator in intercultural interactions. In dealing with the diplomatic predicaments Taiwan has faced over the years, he has committed to adopting a flexible foreign policy. This book depicts challenges Ambassador Yuan encountered in different posts and delineates his impressions and remarks about politicians he met in his diplomatic career.
