Abstract:
It has been thirty years since Taichung Veterans General Hospital, the largest medical center in central Taiwan, was founded in 1982. The hospital has reached many achievements in various aspects: the establishment of the medical system, innovations in medical technology, medical research and education, personnel training, healthcare administration, disaster medicine, international aid work, etc. This book shows the hardship of the hospital’s establishment, the breakthroughs in the hospital’s development, and the role it plays in central Taiwan through the oral record of thirteen superintendents and vice superintendents, which also talked about their personal experience in their study, research, and medical career. The book not only shows us the history of Taichung Veterans General Hospital and the history of the Veterans Hospital System in Taiwan, but also shows a part of Medical History in Taiwan and China. It is a readable oral history that contains historical materials.
