Abstract:
The main function of assembly is to elect specific representatives, responsible for making or amending laws, and supervising government governance. Shanghai is the fastest-growing city in modern China. From 1927 to 1949, what parliamentary organizations were established by successive Shanghai governments, which helps to understand how local elites in Shanghai participated in politics and how local governments responded to the demands of parliamentary members from this, we can learn more about the social problems faced by Shanghai in modern times under the rapid population growth and the continuous progress of industry and commerce.
