Abstract:
Both Ren Yidu’s (Ren I-du) parents were prominent in the May the Fourth Movement. She worked as a professor at Pennsylvania State University for an extensive period, specializing in modern Chinese socio- economic history. Aside from the study of politics, she also created the East Asian Department at this school through her own effort. For family reasons the professor met leading figures from the May 4th Movement including Hu Shih, Ding Wenjiang and Zhao Yuanren. Her accounts tells us about the style of intellectuals of the period.
