Abstract:
Guan Demao once served as an interpreter to the German military advisor group in China, and offers an in-depth analysis of this group’s contribution during the War of Resistance as well as the selection of the ambassador to Germany. In the year 1940, he was appointed to the Chinese Embassy in Germany as First Secretary and so he witnessed the international situation and Sino-German diplomatic relations of the time. In 1955, he was ordered to go to Germany to arrange for Bundestag members to visit China, and went to Germany once again in 1969, working in the pursuit of the restoration of diplomatic ties between Germany and the Republic of China; sadly, without success. Aside from this, due to his family background, he has also witness to the Northern Warlords’ regime.
