Abstract:
In 1953, Li entered the Academia Sinica Institute of Ethnology and afterwards studied at Harvard University, later becoming the pioneer of anthropology in Taiwan. In 1984, he was elected to Academia Sinica. Aside from academic research, another activity which was particularly important to Mr. Li was the running of the Academia Sinica Institute of Ethnology; he founded the Tsinghua University College of Humanities and Social Sciences and participated in the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for Scholarly Exchange, promoting academic research and international academic exchange.
