Abstract:
In the 20th century, the private World Wide Ethical Society was founded in the North-east of China. This society’s doctrines had a heavy air of mystery, advocating women's enlightenment and it advocated action rather than just empty words, moving many leading intellectuals, thus creating an opportunity for development. Their peak came when Japan was occupying the North east. When the Chinese Communist Party seized power in 1949, they dissolved the Society in Mainland China, but a small number of members moved to Taiwan and continued their mission. This book is the story of their response to changing times.
