Abstract:
The project attempts to understand the medical careers of 26 physicians, nurses, and medical officers by their oral records, in order to construct the history of the Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and to let people see how this large hospital made such medical miracles in the last 51 years. From the academic point of view, the multiple voices from the 26 respondents provide many precious historical materials for research on Chinese or Taiwanese History of Medicine, History of Education, and History of War. As for general readers, the 26 different cases of childhood memories, school experiences, the perseverance shown in the pursuit of their expertise, and the great collaboration with each other are worth reading.
