    Abstract:
    Modern diplomatic relations between China and Japan began in the year 1871, That year, China and Japan concluded the treaty of amity and a trade charter. Li Hungchang signed they treaty with Japan, his aim being to prevent Japanese invasion, and also to restrain the West by allying with Japan. The Sino- Japanese treaty was drafted by his own hand.It was the first time China and drafted such a treaty with another country and, in terms of style and content, was unique. The book has in-depth analysis of the proposal for the two countries to sign the treaty from the Japanese, Li Hongzhang’s drafting of the treaty, the signing of the treaty, negotiations to revise it and the exchange of copies of the treaty.
