摘要:
本次報告運用馬來半島華人神廟的議案簿和帳冊,並結合英殖民政府檔案與民國政府外交檔案、報刊等史料,試圖在20世紀上半葉馬來亞殖民政制下具體展示,近代以來在中國域外多重他者中謀生存的華南新客(Sinkehk,新移民),如何在基層社會生活中透過廟宇自治組織的運作和社區儀式活動的實踐,凝聚背景殊異的離散人群為「街坊」、「同僑」,在英殖民治理、日本佔領、二戰後馬來亞緊急狀態(Malayan Emergency, 1948-1960)等變局下,模塑、維繫與更新華人共同體意識與身分話語,緩步相偕成為後殖民馬來亞新邦的「華族」公民。
