本文想要去探討毛澤東時代中國農村基層體制及其規模。本文採取的方法是，是利用當代中國大陸出版的地方志，進行統計分析。另外並參考政報、內部參考等相關檔案材料，勾勒出毛澤東時代中國農村基層體制及其規模的演變概況，並重新檢視早期學者舒爾曼、鮑大可等人的觀點。
