About the Conference

Since its founding in 1921 as a small group of around fifty members, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has grown into a political organization with nearly 100 million members and established the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949. Over the past century, the Chinese Communist Revolution underwent several stages, having a profound influence on East Asia and the wider world. This process fundamentally transformed Chinese politics and society, remaining central to the history of modern China.

To encourage new research in this field, the Institute of Modern History (IMH), Academia Sinica, will host the conference "A Century of the Chinese Communist Revolution: An IMH Conference for Early-Career Scholars."
We invite submissions from early-career scholars on topics related to the history of the CCP, the Chinese Communist Revolution, and the PRC. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

   •    Politics and Organization
   •    Revolution and War
   •    Military Affairs and Security
   •    State-Building
   •    Central-Local Relations
   •    Economy and Society
   •    Thought and Culture
   •    Foreign Policy and International Relations
   •    The Cold War and Transnational Dynamics

Submissions that incorporate new archival materials, perspectives, and methods are particularly encouraged.

The call is open to researchers whose work addresses issues related to the history of the CCP, ranging from Ph.D. candidates to associate professors.
