郭慧英博士受業於國立臺灣大學社會學系及美國紐約州立大學賓漢頓分校。目前為美國約翰霍普金斯大學社會系的資深講師和助理研究員。她有關殖民時期香港和新加坡的研究，在2012學年獲得美國社會科學研究會(Social Science Research Council)亞洲區間研究組(Inter-Asian Program)的博士後奬助，並曾在2014年擔任新加坡國立大學亞洲研究中心的短期資深研究員。她的著作包括Networks beyond Empires: Chinese Business and Nationalism in the Hong Kong-Singapore Corridor, 1914-1941專著一本，以及各文章散見於Race and Racism in Modern East Asia (volume 2), Chinese History in Geographical Perspectives, Singapore in Global History等研究合集和學術期刊如Review: Fernand Braudel Center, Journal of Contemporary Asia, Enterprise and Society: International Journal of Business History等。
