1932年6月一名德國神父於中朝邊境被殺害,在德國外交部檔案中稱之為「間島凶殺案」。該案雖轟動一時,卻不同於過去的教案,並沒有引起德日之間的外交衝突,反而是消失在人們的歷史記憶之中。隨著案件的調查,各方針對「日本士兵是否為兇手」各執一詞,最終演變成各說各話的羅生門。本文將從德國外交官在交涉該案時的討論,分析他們對「正義」的概念是如何從馬克思.韋伯的社會民主思想轉向卡爾.施密特的國家社會主義,映射出德國從共和向獨裁體制轉型的過程。藉此強調「納粹德國」的遠東政策是「威瑪共和」的延續,這不僅具有內在的思想淵源,同時也是與外在國際局勢互動後的產物 – 即承認日本在遠東的霸權地位。最後進一步的從世界史的脈絡中探究何謂「外交現代性」。
